Lab backs children’s book appeal from new Market Hall location

Derby City Lab will once again be backing Derby Book Festival’s Children’s Book Appeal by acting as a drop off point for donations.
The latest appeal coincides with the festival’s Summer Edition event, which takes place from Friday 23 May to Sunday 1 June.
From Saturday 24 May, Derby City Lab will be accepting donations of pre-loved children’s books at its new location inside the revamped Derby Market Hall.
The biannual book appeal aims to collect gently used, pre-loved books suitable for primary school children, which will then be distributed to youngsters who do not have access to books.
In the past, the Derby City Lab has helped collect thousands of books from its previous locations in St James’ Street and the Derbion shopping centre.

Adam Rodgers, inward investment executive at Marketing Derby and Derby City Lab lead, said: “Derby City Lab is thrilled to once again be supporting Derby Book Festival’s Children’s Book Appeal.
“We are particularly delighted that the collection point will be at our brand-new location inside the newly restored Derby Market Hall.
“We hope those who drop off books will take time to stay a while and explore the new lab and find out more about Derby’s exciting regeneration story.”
Liz Fothergill, patron of Derby Book Festival, said: “We work closely with schools in the city to support the development of a love of books and reading.
“We know that not every child is lucky enough to have books at home and by making this appeal we hope to give every child in the city a book to take home to cherish.”
The lab is one of a number of drop-off points taking part in the appeal. The others include the Derbion customer service desk, QUAD, Moorways Sports Village, Wathall’s and Cosy.
